If you have a newer system, you most likely have all USB 3 ports on your rig. Here's the problem: The older Saitek x52's do NOT like USB 3.x (3.0/3.1). I tried every driver from Saitek, Madkat and Logitech across every version. 7 hours of maddening, hair pulling, frustrating driver errors, error code 10's, unrecognized device problems, reading reddit, articles you name it.
